Famous German Steadicam Operator & Teacher dies January 6th, 2007 after long illness.

Dear Colleagues,

We were greatly saddened to hear of Mike Bartlett's death. He was a good friend and a brilliant operator.

He was also an inspiring teacher who joined Ted Churchill and colleagues,   including Jerry and I, on some of our best workshops ever. Mike was not a big
talker or a theatrical personality...quite the opposite. Self-contained conveyed an impression of reserve and great dignity; He had a wonderful sense of
humor and a manic side, rarely displayed, which equalled Jacques Monge   and Ted's absurdist antics, but his physical appearance was somewhat
forbidding.

He was gaunt and intense and watchful. I used to call him 'der Ritter' -- a Parzifal-like knight
of the green screen who was unique and valuable and who will be forever missed.

We will not see his like again.

Farewell Mike,

your friends, Garrett Brown & Jerry Holway
Picture coming soon.
